The Genetic Diagnosis Act has been in force in Germany since February 1, 2010. It regulates the procedures to be used for human genetic testing as well as the use of genetic material, data, and samples. The basic principles of the Act comprise the rights of the individual to informational self-determination. This includes both the right to knowledge and the right to ignorance.
